Science Diplomacy in a changing world: lessons for a post-pandemic future

Free online lectures organized by SciTech DiploHub and IBEI

SciTech DiploHub, Barcelona Science and Technology Diplomacy Hub, together with IBEI (Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals) organizes the SciDipTalks: a series of three free online trainings taught by global experts specializing in climate change, genome editing, bioethics, sustainable development and scientific diplomacy in the Global South. 

The SciDipTalks project, which began last year and brought together more than 5,600 participants from around the world in each session, aims to bring scientific knowledge on key topics to public debate, as well as train future professionals.

This initiative will be taught in English, in 3 sessions, on May 27, June 3 and June 10, at 6pm CEST:

  • Session 1: Climate Change after COVID-19: The Future of Environmental Science Diplomacy (27/05/2021).
  • Session 2: The Global Governance of Genome Editing. An Opportunity for Science Diplomacy (03/06/2021).
  • Session 3: Science Diplomacy in the Global South. Challenges and opportunities (10/06/2021).

The confirmed speakers of this edition represent organizations and entities such as, among others, the World Health Organization (WHO), the American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the National Center for Biotechnology (CNB-CSIC), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), Sciences Po, the University of Cape Town, the University of Edinburgh and the University of Barcelona.
