“Towards COP21: Youth Event”, preparatory event for the 21st Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention COP21 (Naples, 2-5 December 2019), will be held tomorrow in Naples.

It is a crucial event to strengthen and support the role of the young generations in the protection of marine and coastal environments in the Mediterranean region, and on issues linked to the UN 2030 Agenda. The conference offers the youngsters the chance to send a message to the COP21 of the Barcelona Convention.

The meeting aims at producing a final document that will be presented to COP21 in December by the Rapporteur and a group of young representatives.

During the Youth Event participants will discuss the specific issues emerged from the analysis of the produced material and the “vision” of youth on the Barcelona Convention and on the socio-economic aspects of the sustainable development of the Mediterranean region, focusing especially on the contents of the COP21. SDSN Med will take part in the discussion through the intervention of Dott.ssa Stefania Toraldo.

“Towards COP21: Youth Event” is organised by the Italian Ministry of Environment, Land and Sea, in collaboration with the Municipality of Naples, ISMed/CNR and the contribution of SDSN Mediterranean c/o Santa Chiara Lab – University of Siena.

“Towards COP 21: Youth Event” is taking place on 23 October 2019 from 09:30 to 18:00 in Naples, at Castello del Maschio Angioino.
